Sandy Hook Memorial Park & Butterfly Garden at Newtown, Connecticut

FHCS Trendsetters raised money for the Sandy Hook Memorial Park & Butterfly Garden at Newtown, Connecticut. We had a silent auction with gently-used toys. Unsold toys were donated to Sojourner Center & FHCS annual garage sale. Trendsetters also sold little felt heart butterfly-shaped boxes for Valentine's Day. We were able to raise a total of $457 within a few day - not too bad for a small group of kids from a small school.

We received a very heartwarming email response from the director of Newtown Parks & Rec.

Hello Lisa,
We did receive the card, photos, Beautiful Butterfly and the generous donation!!!
Words are hard to put down, as tears fill my eyes with gratitude!
To see the sweet faces and sentiments and receive a gift means more than you can imagine.  We are healing here in Newtown and with every card, gift, donation, photo we move forward to a better and stronger community.
Thank you all for helping us do that.  The playground will be a wonderful way for the children to play and be happy in the near future and with generous donations such as yours from all over the country it will be a reality!
God bless you all at your Global School, we will share your items with many to help make them happy as well.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you,
With love and peace,
Amy Mangold

Operation Christmas Child

FHCS Trendsetters sent boxes to children in other countries through Operation Christmas Child. This past year our boxes went to the Philippines & Peru.

Past Projects

Past Community Projects from the Various Trendsetter Clubs:

A Trendsetters club sewed 11 quilts for babies born at risk. The students presented their handmade quilts to the American Mothers’ Club, who distributed the quilts to babies’ mothers at local hospitals.

Teaming up with a neighboring junior high school, Trendsetters brought smiles and laughter to a home for Alzheimer’s residents. Trendsetters washed windows, performed dance routines, sang to residents and provided their home with handmade spring decorations.

Trendsetters club members sold candy bars with wrapper labels bearing their slogan “Look for the best in yourself and in others” and their motto “Be Kind.” All proceeds from the candy sales were used to purchase games and gifts to fill Justine Bags for hospitalized children being treated for life-threatening or terminal illnesses.
